The first story I wrote was about the tornado I experienced at age seven. To test my primary attempt at writing, I read it to a critique group at Barnes and Noble in Nashville. They were kind—their encouragement set free a timid writer. To read the tornado story The Red Coat and the Rain, which was published in Muscadine Lines, an online magazine—– click here.
Face of a Nun tells of a frightening episode in my early convent days. It was published in the anthology GATHERING: WRITERS OF WILLIAMSON COUNTY, 2009. Available on Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Click Here to Read
I attended the Kentucky Women Writers Conference September, 2010. The speaker, author Sue Halpern, required a three-page assignment on the topic of “a memorable meal”. I wrote My First Convent Breakfast. It was definitely memorable in many ways—and not just the food. Read it here.
My first book, a memoir of my years in the convent, Monastery to Matrimony, a Woman’s Journey, published in 2014 is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or through the author at maweakley4@gmail.com.
